Apartment Review
good for the price

To be honest, this place isn't great. It isn't horrible either though. For the price, it's actually not so bad. However, it's about 5 miles from a place known as "The Hilltop", a crime-ridden location in southwest Columbus. It's located just far enough away to be relatively safe from the things that happen there, but not far enough. A few months ago graffiti was on one of the buildings. Police have been coming to the complex more frequently recently. Usually it's for domestic disputes or evictions, but there have been break-ins (car and home). About two months ago someone broke into an apartment near mine in broad daylight. I have a security system on my home and my car, and barricade my door at night. Management has improved security as a result of the break-ins, but I'm unsure if it's enough. Maintenance is very friendly and usually responds quickly. Most of the office staff is very friendly. One of them can be snippy and slightly rude at times, but not to the extent that it's unbearable. For the square footage, the price is very reasonable. Water is included, but electricity isn't. I don't think insulation is very good here. It tends to get very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter, even with ac/heat going. I've noticed that the doors and windows have gaps and cracks. It took a while for management to take care of the items on our move-in sheet. They claimed that they reviewed the entire apartment before we moved in, but I doubt it. There was hair in both bathtubs, stains on all the carpets, bird poop on the patio and walls, bugs in the carpets and light fixtures, paint on the doors, cracks on the walls and door frames, and a lot of other relatively small things that could've been fixed easily. I am assuming that management opted not to take care of it to save money, hoping we wouldn't notice. It's pretty easy to notice a huge yellow stain in the middle of the living room floor. Parking usually isn't too bad. There is a lot of parking space, but they don't seem to place a limit on how many people in the apartments can have passes. The visitor lot is usually filled with resident cars due to the shortage of resident-designated spots relative to the amount of resident passes they give out. I've been blessed to have quiet neighbors so far. In that regards, noise isn't an issue. The only time noise is an issue is when they fill an apartment with someone that shouldn't be there. These tenants usually leave within a month or are evicted shortly after. These particular tenants also tend to bring a group with them that could be described as "shady at best". They usually run specials on monthly rental rates. I strongly advise waiting for a discount.
