Apartment Review
Old and Not Well Maintained
Review Date: 5/5/2009 Reviewer: Anonymous
My family and I have lived here for one year, and that is one year too many. We are moving at the end of our lease. There are so many issues here it's not funny. 1. No guest parking is ever available. Don't have friends over unless they want to get towed or park at the opposite end of the complex. My friend got towed for parking in a space that we were told (by the office) was a guest spot. But, the paint had rubbed off and it was actually an assigned parking spot. To the offices credit, our friend was reimbursed the towing fees. 2. Maintenance doesn't fix things correctly and you have to call back several times to have them come back. They don't address everything you've told them. The only way to get some type of results is to stand over them and supervise. And, they don't come when they say they will and don't return to finish something they couldn't fix on the spot. They are nice, but not thorough and do the minimum to make it look decent rather than doing a complete job to fix the root problem. 3. Property Manager doesn't follow through either, which is probably why the staff doesn't. 4. Our basement gets wet every time it rains. We advised the office many many many times. They did several patch jobs, even putting in new carpet, but it was still getting wet, indicating there was a deeper problem. It got so bad, fungus was growing through the carpet. ICK! We called and advised them, they promised a contractor would come, and they never showed. It wasn't until they called asking us to renew our lease and we told them we weren't, that they finally had someone come again. And, it's still not fixed. Soggy wet carpet in the basement for going on 4 months. We can't even use the space we are paying for. Our neighbors also have a wet basement that hasn't been resolved either. It's been going on longer than our issue! It's been such a hassle that we gave up and don't even want to deal with it anymore. We are just ready to be done and move. We did our part as tenants to advise of issues, but it seems the office doesn't take pride of ownership and doesn't care about the tenants until it's time to renew the lease. 5. Dog owners do not pick up after pet waste, which is gross. 6. Floors creak and are uneven. Patio doors have rotting wood that needs replaced. 7. I can hear our neighbors on both sides. The walls are thin and we hear things we'd really rather not. Eww! 8. Not all the garage doors have openers, which we weren't told until after we signed the lease. But we were told we could install one ourselves at our own expense. For the price and area, you would think an automatic garage door would be the standard. 9. Appliances are at least 25 yrs old and need replaced badly. It's not safe to have a gas stove that has a constant pilot lit. 10. Leasing agents told us that within the year all appliances and lighting fixtures would be replaced. That hasn't happened at all. 11. The only positive thing I can say is that the tenants seem really nice and are polite. We like our neighbors. It seems that the office does a decent job of screening new tenants. If only the management would take the time on the little things, this place would be much better. It has so much potential, but has left a bitter taste in our mouths. The office will tell (and sell) you a bunch of nice things in the beginning, but once you sign the lease it's a different story. |
