Apartment Review for Big Walnut Apartments - Columbus, OH

I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. On the surface it looks perfect: convenient location, nice spacious layout, affordable, basement for storage, nice curb appeal. All their effort is to get you in the door, then all hell breaks loose. We haven't went over a couple weeks without some MAJOR problem. We have had everything from no air conditioning through the month of June, basement flooding off and on from May to August, water heater rusting out the bottom and flooding the basement, shower faucets leaking or not turning off at all on 2 different occasions, garbage disposal clogging on 3 separate occasions with minimal use, months and numerous requests to get lights replaced, and a thermostat that is completely worthless. No maintenance request, from clogged drain, to the apartment being over 90 degrees inside, to the basement being completely flooded, is addressed in less than a week, with the AC taking a month to be fixed. The office staff is always friendly, but completely incompetent, either taking maintenance requests incorrectly or not at all. Our car was also broken into along with several other cars on the property as well.

We are not the only apartment to have problems. During our AC problems, the office said there were over 30 apartments with no AC. Our neighbor has also had numerous problems.

We did get 2 months free rent. One from us refusing to pay for the month we had no AC and one month for general hassle with maintenance, but this was after we were forced to go to the overall management company to complain about the local office. I think to just get rid of us, they are letting us out of our lease and we are moving as soon as absolutely possible.

No matter how nice the people seem to be, or how nice the apartments seem or how affordable for the square footage, DO NOT BE FOOLED!!!! Stay away from this property at all costs.
