Never Again

Too much to discuss here, but I do not recommend the Heritage. Yes, it's location is fabulous, but that's where the pros end. The buildings are incredibly old, as are the appliances. After my oven produced a black film throughout the kitchen when I baked cookies (who knew you could burn cookies after just 3 minutes in an old gas oven?) I was told by maintenance the oven was certainly the original in the apartment, about 30-40 years old. A strange red liquid oozed from my exterior wall once into my living room--I was told it was simply condensation from an old air conditioning unit, nothing to worry about. More than once the ceiling tiles above my bathtub fell--apparently caused by a leak from the bathtub on the floor above. Never felt safe standing in my bathroom again. And speaking of safe, I was approached in my building's laundry room once by a strange man that apparently did not live in the complex. I saw him wandering the hallways as I put my laundry in the washer and when I returned to put it in the dryer I saw him again--this time he followed me into the basement laundry facility. He asked me to show him a certain body part or he would "shove me against the wall and do it himself." As a young woman living alone, I was very frightened, being accosted in my own building. I urged management to add lighting and security cameras (even fake ones just to deter people) throughout the buildings and perimeters. They wrote me a letter saying they would look into it--to my knowledge no security improvements were made. When I moved in the "fitness center" consisted of two treadmills and a bicycle, none of which worked correctly. Also, as other people have stated here, the utility bills were outrageous. The buildings desperately need to be updated--they are old and are no doubt the culprit of many maintenance issue. The apartment management could surely save money, time and tenants if they were proactive in improving the condition of the facility, instead of merely reacting to tenant complaints. |
