I can only echo what the other reviewers have said so far about Mercer Square. If you have any social life at all (or work a job other than 9-5), good luck finding a parking spot anywhere near the complex (let alone actually in it) upon returning home at night. Every single night, people have been parking in their own made up spots within the lot, and in the morning, the maintenance crew awakens bright and early to post big, obnoxious signs on the cars saying that if they park in these spots again, they will be towed. I have a feeling that every single car in the lot will be towed upon their next violation at this point, because I everyone must have gotten a note on their car at least once by now. No one wants to have to park way down the street.. especially at night. The Safelite lot across the street requires a parking permit, and a lot of the areas way up the street all also way past full because of Flannagans volleyball leagues starting back up. Re-reviewing what another previous poster said, the job they do of plowing in the winter is indeed really horrible. Yes, we had a bad winter this year, but it was sometimes more than a disaster trying to get out of the lot. The plows would make a very quick run-through of the lot, and most of the time the large mounds of snow would be plowed right up to the cars, making it even more of a challenge to get out of the lot. Also, I saw several times where the cars at the very end would get completely trapped in by big mounds of snow that the plows had piled up. And just how did they think that was a good idea? One reviewer said that it sounds like there are bowling balls being dropped on the floor even though they are sure that it is someone just walking around. Yes, the ceilings/floors must be THAT thin. I really thought someone was jumping around like a ballerina in their living room at first, but upon seeing who actually resided in the apartment above me, I'm QUITE sure they were just walking. The electric bill is a joke. I'm never here during the day, yet like other reviewers have said, it has been sometimes more than DOUBLE what I've paid previously. Just beware that when you sign the lease, it does say that you are paying for the "community" electricity each month as well but it doesn't really get into specifics or exactly how ridiculous this is. I have a feeling I moved in after the people saying that they were never told this, and I really don't doubt that they went back and re-worded the lease agreement. In the winter, I was paying around $1400 just for the rent and electricity, and this is an 800sf one bedroom apartment. It's not THAT nice of a place. It sucks that the area is pretty nice and quiet generally, and I don't feel unsafe at all here, but that's about as far as the "pros" go. The girl that works at the front desk, Jacquie or some spelling variation of it, is always dressed very professionally and she's very nice. Otherwise, the maintenance staff does seem to be a bit slow to reply to requests, and they don't really seem to understand the meaning of "emergency" requests. Maybe there are so many of them at one given time that they really do respond in a timely fashion, but only after they've solved all other problems in line ahead of my own :-)
