Looks Great On The Outside But ....
Review Date: 3/8/2006 Reviewer: Anonymous
We were really excited to find a decent townhouse in the heart of the Short North, but the location is pretty much the only GOOD thing about this development. The developers knocked down a lot of subsidized housing to build New Village and the management team fails to let tenants know that Section 8 is still welcome. Also, the development was thrown up so quickly that many items we take for granted in apartments are not available here - namely insulation - you can hear every word the neighbor whispers, and each cough and sneeze does not go unnoticed. The floor boards squeak and moan - we thought this would get better as the community settled - wrong answer!! The noise just got worse! We had a list of items that were in need of fixing (the carpet was stained with paint and soil before we even moved in - and we were the first tenants!), and it took them several months to attempt to fix a few things. The carpet remained the same way throughout our stay. The bottom of the bedroom doors does not even come near the floor - it is about 4-6 inches from the carpet! You would think they would measure correctly when they installed them. It also seemed that management lacked responsiveness - and they were pretty much on their own timeline and would get to our important issues when they felt like it. Be careful renting here ... don't always judge a book by its pretty cover! |
