Apartment Review for Northsteppe Realty - Columbus, OH

The apartment was beautiful. The leasing office was a nightmare. They lost our rent checks twice and charged us late fees. We didn't have hot water in our bathroom from when we moved in August until February when we had our rent put into escrow. One night we came home to our entire apartment smelling like gas. We called the "emergency" maintenance number and left several messages. The gas company came out and fixed it right away, and 3 DAYS later the maintenance man came knocking on our door. The building was so neglected that our upstairs neighbor's shower leaked into our hallway closet. We were not home at the time and the guy that called to tell me about it said there was no damage and that they had cleaned everything up and they would return the next morning to patch the hole in the ceiling. I returned home to find molded debris all over the entryway, water still on the hardwood floors, and my dog very ill from having been exposed to the mold. All they had done was hang our destroyed coats and other belongings in the bathroom. They patched the hole about 3 weeks later. Despite many repair requests, the back door to the building was broken for some time and we frequently had a homeless man sleeping on the couch in our laundry room. Also, When we moved in, the living room was painted yellow. When we moved out, they charged us $200 to repaint it white. The office staff were always very friendly and tried to be helpful, I just think they were terribly disorganized and the management didn't care at all about what needed to be done. Major headache. Don't even bother.
