Apartment Review for Northsteppe Realty - Columbus, OH

This company is THE WORST. The buildings are rarely secured. Even in my building where you need a key to get in, the doors were broken for the first 5 months I lived here and ANYONE could get in. Tenants had to warn each other of vagrants in the building. The parking lot is a mess and you're likely to hit another car just pulling out of one of the spots because everything is so tight. The building is obviously drafty and falling apart and abused and when you file maintenance requests (like I had to for flies, mice, and NO HANGER ROD IN THE CLOSET), you get ignored or told to deal with it. The day I moved in there were flies everywhere, including inch-wide piles of dead flies on all the window sills. Instead of dealing with it they just sent someone with paper towels and spray to come clean up the dead flies and that's it. I've had a mouse problem for 4 months and they are just now dealing with it and they're barely doing anything even though they knew this building had mice. The walls are paper thin and I can hear my neighbors' business all the time and I bet they can hear mine. They give you no warning when bringing people into your apartment to show it and then yell at you when your apartment isn't spotless. But they've given me 30 minutes warning once when I wasn't even home. They will go through hell to hold on to your security deposit and never give it back and their rates for rent are obscene. The heater and A/C units are too big for the apartments (something they admit AFTER you turn it on for the first time) and so you can't turn the unit on or you won't be able to hear yourself think and your papers will go flying. The door knobs don't turn, the carpet is disgusting and then they make the new tenant pay to clean it and the office staff is RUDE beyond belief. STAY AWAY FROM NORTH STEPPE REALITY AT ALL COSTS.
