Apartment Review
Not Worth It/ Incompetent Staff

I lived at Runaway Bay for 2 years- at first it wasn't bad, definitely dated apartments and entry ways, but overall for the price not bad at first. The complex went under new management sometime around late summer or fall or 2008, since then I feel a lot has gone by the wayside. They new management has done a lot of cosmetic updates to the building entry ways in attempt to make them more visually appealing. However, I never received any updated appliances as a previous poster said they did. The staff at the office became very difficult to get in touch with and most every call that did get answered, I was told I had to speak with the manager, Michael- who never seemed to be around and never returned any calls. Please keep in mind that I was not an annoying tenent that called often, however there were a few times that there were maintenance issues or rent issues (my rent check was "lost" after I placed it in the drop box). Also parking in sertain areas can be a big pain due to the people who come to use the lake that do not live in the complex. We were told there would be Columbus police moving on site to monitor the uninvited guests but nothing ever changed. These are likely the people who are breaking into/ damaging vehicles of the residents. Also it seems that many of the new tenants that have moved in the past 6 months are still in or just out of college and party constantly. I am only 3 years out of school but I work a full time job and it is very annoying to try to sleep during the week while all of the neighbors are blasting music and yelling all night. I had finally decided to move once they raised the rent to about $700 for a 1 bedroom (it was $615 when I first moved in) I realized I could get a much nicer apartment for the same cost. I was at my apartment on the last day of my lease cleaning out the last of my belongings when I heard someone enter my apartment while I was using the restroom. I went to the door to find a young man standing there with a key to my place who told me the staff told him no one was living there and he could come up to measure the windows. (He was the new tenant). I let him in but was quite embarassed and very angry at the staff as this is illegal for them to give anyone a key to an apartment that is occupied by someone! When I went into the office to turn in my keys the girl at the office said she wasn't sure why this had happened (she was the only one working at the time and pulled up my file while I stood there and could see that my lease was still in effect) She did not even apologize at first. I am running this issued up the flagpole at the corporate level, but no one seems to really care... I would check into other apartments in the area before settling for Runaway Bay.
