Apartment Review for Saw Mill Village Apartments - Columbus, OH

There are so many negatives about this apartment that I can fill pages: 1. It is infested with bugs; particularly the carpet is very old/filthy and full of ‘Bed Bugs’. 2. The parking is limited and if you are late in the evening, you would have to park 2/3 blocks from your building. It is a pain particularly during winters! Moreover, you would be towed if you/your guest do not have a parking sticker (be ready to $200, apart from the pain). 3. The water charges are arbitrary and you are not given the breakdown about the amount, when asked about it. The charges may range from $60 - $80 (2BR), which is far more that $20 - $30 you may usually get and moreover, most apartments have them included in their rent! 4. They also charge for trash (which they don’t disclose it upfront). 5. If you unfortunately want to go on month-to-month you would pay $150 extra, which is ridiculous. 6. I basically liked the apartment because of the indoor pool facility, but it was closed for renovation for most part of winter. I learnt that the health department failed it because of the poor quality of water and pool. 7. The lake is OK, but the walkway is full of poop. 8. The appliances, I guess are at least 2 decades old, so be ready to get electricity bills of $150+. In some months I got bills of $200 or more. 9. The worst is the staff and in particular the leasing manager – No customer service and difficult in dealing with them! I was slapped with a huge arbitrary ‘move-out charge’ because I complained all of the above and on top of that it was reported as collection to credit reporting agencies (as past due for 3 month), without they even sending the notice. It was a nightmare which went for almost 3-4 weeks and finally management agreed because they had no proof and also sent the correction notices credit reporting agencies (for reinstatement). The same story happened with couple of my friend who lived in that apartment, but they paid because it was reported on their credit and were afraid to fight back. Please….Please be careful when you move in this apartment! I bet you will find better apartments at cheaper/comparative prices. Good luck in your find!!
