NO Value for your Money!

While Sonnenblick is in an ideal location for College Students and those that work downtown, it lacks in nearly everything else. Parking is a HUGE issue as there are not nearly enough spaces for everyone who holds a lease with the property to begin with. Given its location in Victorian Village you also always have tons of non-resident parkers occupying the spaces. They claim they will tow, yet it is randomly done and seems to be the result of repeated complaints by the residents more than anything else. This past fall, cars were being damaged when people from other complexes and the neighborhood were running around and keying cars after hours. The security is severely lacking, while there is ample lighting in the parking area, the rest of the complex is fairly dim. No maintenance or office staff live on property so they really don't seem to care about the concerns and complaints of the residents. They will pacify the residents merely so they will stop complaining. The office is rarely open and closed on the weekends. Even during the stated office hours, the leasing manager is rarely in the office or anywhere to be found. He seems to avoid any sort of attention to issues and feigns interest simply to avoid any measure of confrontation. Gas bills are a HUGE problem. Basically the gas is for the entire community and allegedly broken down by the square footage of each apartment after a percentage is taken out for the common living areas. This can result in the gas bill for a simple 2 bedroom reaching as high as 120-140 on some months. However, there is never any specific gas bill for residents to view and they are expected to take it on good faith that they are being fairly assessed. Part of the issue with high gas bills is that every apartment townhome has a huge non-insolated hole in their furnace room. There is a laundry room, but it closes around 10pm. They will lock your clothes in there with a padlock even if you are in mid-cycle at the time. Noise levels are consistently loud and the complex is right next to another complex that accepts Section 8 housing and is routinely visited by police. While the location may be ideal, I would seriously recommend looking elsewhere. Though Oakwood Management is normally a decent company, Sonnenblick is seriously in need of an overhaul in staff, maintenance, and everything else. |
