Apartment Review for Summerview Apartments - Columbus, OH

One of the newer complexes in the area (only about 10 years old, Summerview has all the amenities Gardens at Polaris (next door)offers for $100-400 less per month. The garages aren't attatched, but they are available to EVERY tenant ($35/mo extra- but worth not having to shovel snow). Pets stay FREE- no extra deposit, no extra 'pet rent' (dogs up to 25 lbs, or two cats allowed) Nice,new,clean Washer/Dryer FREE in EVERY apartment-if they break management will fix ASAP. Some reviews written here report dryers don't dry - I had that problem about a year after I moved in, contacted the leasing office, and they fixed it- the vent was blocked with lint/bird nest.. easy fix. As for the hot water complaint showers last about 15 minutes due to smaller water heaters- longer if you turn the heat up on the water heater. Nice views out the windows are commonplace - there are four ponds. The leasing people are more than willing to work with you as long as you communicate with them (two months after signing my lease - I lost my job - I was terrified - but they worked with me every step of the way!!) Some reviews report managment is 'combative' - they aren't combative, they just don't put up with a whole lot of crap ..if you're polite management is polite. The maintainence gentlemen are VERY courteous, prompt, polite and offer to take their shoes off when they come in!! Fitness center membership is included with lease. At first glance, the pool looks small from the outside, but when you enter the pool gate, it's much larger, certainly big enough for grown adults to enjoy and cool off and it has nighttime lighting which is nice. It is not over-run by kids at all hours either!(by the way generally they open the pool beginning April 1st - no waiting for labor day!) Kids play here, but parents are advised to supervise them, and it seems management keeps a good watch over this, so its never been a problem. Heating and cooling bill is very reasonable - all electric -AEP). Neighbors are generally courteous and respect eachothers privacy. Any noise issues are addressed by management. You're allowed to paint and customize your apartment any way you want as long as you return it to original condition when you leave. I've been here two years and I'm planning to renew my lease.
