Apartment Review for Whispering Pines - Columbus, OH

Along with the others who have reviewed this place, they show you a model but the apartment you move into is horrible. The carpeting is old, the fixtures leak and the management staff is horrible. They have changed management companies and said that they would improve things. What they spent money on is for fixing their offices, putting out a new awning and nothing on improving the apartments. Main lights on the streets have been burned out for 6 months, and I have complained numerous times. They still have not replaced them. This place is dark and crime ridden on the weekends. I have woken up to gunshots, loud parties, and teenaged kids roaming around at all hours. Many tennants open their SUV doors and crank the Spanish music up full blast until 3 or 4 in the morning on the weekends. I have complained, but it still happens. They do NOT have any security company. The pool was closed the ENTIRE FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND! They said it was dirty! It is not even opened today on 4/7/08. I have lived here for 3 years, and am probably the longest tennant. I am quiet, take care of my place and pay my rent. When there are times I have to be a week or so late, I inform them and pay a $50 late fee plus $5 for each day late and I am willing to do that. But they still put eviction notices on my door!! You would think they would want to keep a tennant like me! People come and go all the time. You never know your neighbors because people move out in the middle of the night! Yet, they treat a long term tennant horribly! My air conditioner was broken during a heat wave and it took them 8 EIGHT days to fix it! They said that they had a lot to fix!! That is unacceptable. The way they figure your water bill is they take the size of your apartment and everyone in that sized place pays the same! I live in a 2 bedroom townhome alone. There are 5 and 6 people living in the same size apartment and I PAY THE SAME WATER BILL AS THEY DO!! They don't want to take the time to divide the total bill by the NUMBER of occupants in an apartment, which is the only right thing to do!! My water bills, for me living alone, run around $60!!! They do no maintenance and its not safe here. But the worst thing is the way they treat you when you have been a great tennant!! It's not worth it to live here. And they just raised my rent to $649 while they are advertising the very same apartment for $550 for someone who is new!!! Run the other way!
